Music is my life, and I’m passionate about the organ & its repertoire.

Via the concert platform, and the organ school at Battle Abbey, I hope to share its great literature with audiences, colleagues and students.

A native of Melbourne, Australia, Travis Baker is considered to be one of the finest organists of his homeland.

Travis is now based in England studying with world-renowned concert Organist, Dame Gillian Weir. In 2021, he was offered, and accepted a place on the Masters Degree programme, Instrumental Performance, at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire,

His recital career regularly takes him throughout the U.K., Continental Europe, Scandinavia and America. His growing reputation has led to invitations to give the Annual Opening Concert for the Organ Club of Great Britain and to première David Loxley-Blount’s Knotweed, commissioned by the Eric Thompson Trust.

Travis was recently appointed organ teacher at Battle Abbey School. He is responsible for teaching several young organists, and is developing an ‘organ school’ with a reputation for excellence in organ performance. In partnership with Battle Abbey School, the neighbouring church of St Mary’s, and Chichester Cathedral, Travis has established a scholarship programme to help support these young organists; he is constantly working to encourage young minds to take an interest in learning the organ.

As a Certified Master Teacher for Estill Voice Teaching Systems, Travis has worked with Estill Voice Systems in London, Australia, New Zealand and Northern Ireland. With Paul Farrington, Travis was responsible for coaching the cast of the feature film, Quartet, starring Maggie Smith, and subsequently worked on the feature film of Stephen Hawking’s life, The Theory of Everything. More recently Travis has been working with the cast of West End production Operation Mincemeat.

Testimonials

Travis Baker is a superb organist, who came to study with me a few years ago.  Since then he has developed a burgeoning concert career, marked not only by plaudits from both audiences and critics but by that truly meaningful accolade of so often being invited to return.

More than being a brilliant performer Travis is a musician, whose insights and perfectionism continue to grow, as does his popularity with both public and sponsors.

It is a pleasure to wish Travis every continuing success in his flourishing career.

Dame Gillian Weir
Concert Organist

I have known Travis Baker for more than fifteen years and in that time I have both employed him and worked alongside him on many occasions and with very different groups of people.

He is a fine musician, and a responsible and dedicated teacher. He inspires all the young people he works with - whether individual or groups of singers - to strive for excellence, and he does all this with integrity, humour and immense warmth.
