Certified Master Teacher, Estill Voice Training Systems
A native of Melbourne, Australia, Travis Baker is considered to be one of the finest organists of his homeland.
Travis is now based in England studying with world-renowned concert Organist, Dame Gillian Weir. His recital career regularly takes him throughout the U.K., Continental Europe and Scandinavia, and in 2020 he will again perform in New Zealand. His growing reputation has led to invitations to give the Annual Opening Concert for the Organ Club of Great Britain and to première David Loxley-Blount’s Knotweed, commissioned by the Eric Thompson Trust. In July 2020, he will be soloist in the Saint-Saens’ Organ Symphony with the European Youth Summer Music Orchestra.
As a Certified Master Teacher for Estill Voice Teaching Systems, Travis has worked with Estill Voice Systems in London, Australia, New Zealand and Northern Ireland. He has collaborated with Paul Farrington in the Opera New Zealand Summer School and will be doing so again in 2021. With Paul Farrington, Travis was responsible for coaching the cast of the feature film, Quartet, starring Maggie Smith, and subsequently worked on the feature film of Stephen Hawking’s life, The Theory of Everything. He holds the position of Director of Voice at Millennium Performing Arts College, working with renowned voice specialist Mary King.
Travis is Director of Music for The Bromley Boy Singers, the award-winning group of approximately 60 boys based in South-East London. In 2015 they won the Cornwall International Choral Festival and two years ago gave concerts in Paris, including The Cathedral of Notre-Dame. In addition to training and conducting The Bromley Boy Singers, Travis also works with the boy choristers of Westminster Abbey and collaborates with the Education Department of Glyndebourne Opera.
Travis Baker is a superb organist, who came to study with me a few years ago. Since then he has developed a burgeoning concert career, marked not only by plaudits from both audiences and critics but by that truly meaningful accolade of so often being invited to return.
More than being a brilliant performer Travis is a musician, whose insights and perfectionism continue to grow, as does his popularity with both public and sponsors.
It is a pleasure to wish Travis every continuing success in his flourishing career.
Dame Gillian Weir
I have worked with the excellent Travis Baker over three years. Travis is a superlative musician, with the ability of communicating his skills, and sharing and teaching his mega musical gifts to so many people, from the young to those at the start of their careers, and beyond.
He is totally dedicated to everything he does. A total professional, and may I say a real and lovely person.
The musical world is lucky to have him.
Mezzo Soprano / Vocal Coach
I have known Travis Baker for more than fifteen years and in that time I have both employed him and worked alongside him on many occasions and with very different groups of people.
He is a fine musician, and a responsible and dedicated teacher. He inspires all the young people he works with - whether individual or groups of singers - to strive for excellence, and he does all this with integrity, humour and immense warmth.
